Henley Salt - SAGA A ten year friendship between Jeremy Salt & Cleve West has resulted in an exciting collaboration on the SAGA Insurance Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2006. Cleve's Design skills & Jeremy's build skills have come together to create a truly wonderful garden that is subtle and full of drama.
Designed by the internationally famous and respected garden designer Cleve West,
the SAGA Insurance Garden celebrates the migration of plants around the world. The simplicity of the design is offset by innovative sculpture and the use of an unusual array of large specimen herbs and trees.
The sculptural forms include three concrete screens that give the impression that they have been wrenched out of the ground. Jeremy Salt and Roger Bullock of Henley Salt have created these imposing features especially for the show, the chemical composition of the three monoliths is a closely guarded secret and their appearance has an unusual blend of post-industrial austerity mixed with a volcanic larval infusion.
French artists Serge and Agnes Bottagisio-Decoux provide the other sculptural forms within garden, they have made a large textural cone and water vessels from innovative sculptural techniques using their unique blend of concrete. These imposing features are offset by the subtlety of the paving and walling stone which is a form of Volcanic Porphyry from Brazil.
